What is the frequency for sensor reporting? How often does the application report new data?
Sensors are updated every 20min when the boat is not moving and every minute when the boat is moving. Digital sensors (bilge, door, shore power) are updated on every change if there are no alarms pending.
When the sensor detect new info, what will be the expected delay for data? How long does it take to be updated and displayed on application?
The delay from input change to application sensor value update depends on global communication delays but the update is usually done within 10s. But updates are sent to server only if conditions for movement and sensor change are met.
How many minimum GPS SAT is needed for boat positioning reporting?

The external Antenna is only for GSM/GPRS and not 3G or 4G ? Can external antenna be used for better mobile connection?
External antenna is only for GPS. From our experience data connection is reliable without external GSM antenna if the device is mounted above water level.
Is the GPS antenna build in? Is there a external option?
The STUB antenna on the device is for GPS. And yes, external antenna can be ordered (GPS antenna on 3m extension cable).
Note: Next production batch will have the GPS antenna built-in. The connector for external antenna will stay.
What is the recommended installation position for the BM40 on the boat? Does metallic structures or cases affect the signal of communications?
Recommended position is Cables down, 0.5m above sea level. Metallic objects near the device, interfere with GPS reception especially if they are placed above the device. Communications are obstructed when the device is placed in a metal or perforated metal cage.
How can we use the second 5 pin connector (left side)? Does device come shipped with a connector cover cap?
The 5 pin connector is designated for connecting to NMEA2000 network. Connection allows users to monitor sensor values of boat instruments in Sentinel app (depth, wind speed, engine speed, water/fuel level,...)
The connector is marine grade and there is no voltage present on connector pins so cap is not necessary. However make sure that the connector is dry and not salty before connecting it to NMEA 2000 network.
